Baroque on the Hill — An Evening of Johann Sebastian Bach brings internationally recognised Baroque violinist Madeleine Easton and distinguished Queensland harpsichordist Peter Roennfeldt together at St Brigid’s Church, Red Hill, on 7 October 2026. Presented and produced by SuonaVoce™ Australia in association with Brisbane German Week and Bach Akademie Australia, the concert forms the evening programme of German Music Day within Brisbane German Week 2026. 

The project reflects SuonaVoce™ Australia’s wider mission: creating meaningful cultural exchange between Australia and Europe—particularly the German-speaking cultural sphere—while connecting artistic excellence with business, industry, education and community networks. Through outstanding live performance, strategic partnerships and long-term international collaboration, Baroque on the Hill establishes a distinctive Brisbane platform for German musical heritage and future cultural projects.

At 12:30 pm on Wednesday, 7 October, the foyer of Queensland Conservatorium becomes an open concert hall for a specially curated programme celebrating music from the German-speaking cultural tradition.

Emerging Conservatorium musicians from strings, piano and voice will perform works by composers including Felix Mendelssohn, Franz Schubert, Richard Wagner, Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Hugo Wolf. Curated by Graeme Jennings, Senior Lecturer in Violin and Viola at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, the concert brings together chamber music and song in one of South Bank’s most distinctive public performance spaces.

The foyer setting allows students, staff, visitors and members of the public to experience outstanding young musicians at close range in an informal and welcoming environment. More than a lunchtime recital, the concert places the next generation of Australian performers in direct conversation with repertoire that has shaped European musical life for generations.

The concert forms the daytime programme of German Music Day within Brisbane German Week 2026 and reflects the wider purpose of the project: connecting artistic education, public access and cultural exchange.
